PRAEGER, Robert Lloyd (1865-1953) National Library of Ireland 1893-1924 (CL 1920)
Trained originally as an engineer, he is remembered particularly as geologist and naturalist, for his Natural flora of Ireland (1950) and for what is still one of the best of Irish travel books, The way that I went (1937, 2nd edition 1947). Although then retired he was unanimously elected the first President of the LA of Ireland on its foundation in 1928.
